It's interesting to see the fear angle from a US perspective of China. There's a similar fear of US tech ever since Snowden/Assange released his info. A general mistrust of gov is good, but most of these companies (Chinese and US) are really just trying to make good returns for shareholders.

There is an interesting idea that Wikileaks leans heavily toward Western leaks and that the correspondent Chinese/Russian leaks would be much worse - I imagine any leaks related to the CCP's actions in Xinjiang would provide a satisfactory example.

So yes, you are correct that Western tech is likely problematic, but our cypherpunk movement is fighting the good fight and I would consider it likely that CCP tech would be still more problematic to a significant degree.

Just that the idea of "right thought" would be plainly stated is inconceivable in the West, for example. We have to layer our notions of it in doublespeak, and we have various factions with their own brands of it. It gives the dissident opposition some room to breathe.
